KHDA of United Arab Emirates, (Dubai) wanted to transform their conference room into an underwater aquarium theme. So they called upon E-Walls Studio to tackle the job. Using Mactac Printvinyl 899 R (only available to Mactac’s European market) the studio did an incredible job of transforming the space into a life-sized aquarium.
The transparent film used for this application allows for the graphic to be viewed from both sides of the glass. It is a nice example of high contrast and vivid imagery – traits that are sometimes difficult to achieve with clear film. The product is similar to Mactac JT5999R, a 3.1 mil clear gloss PVC film with a removable adhesive- which is available in the United States.
This project proves that wide format media has found a place in the world of interior décor.

The unlimited possibilities of frosted window vinyl for plotters – Application Spotlight

In this tutorial you will learn how to easily install perforated window vinyl – just like the experts. Installing a perforated window graphic is similar to installing other adhesive-backed large format printed graphics, yet very different in ways and it will take several practice runs before mastering the art.
1. Gather the following materials:
- Felt Squeegee
- Paper Towers (For Cleanup)
- Isopropyl Alcohol or Presaturated wipes to prep window
- Masking tape
- Razor blade or x-acto knife
- Tape measure and level
2. Clean the window surface and remove all dust particles – always start with a freshly cleaned window.
3. Position the graphic – When the graphic is aligned to your liking use your masking and apply it to the top of your graphic so creates a hinge. *If you are installing a full window graphic, use your tape measure or ruler to make sure the edges and corners are evenly spread throughout the window.
4. Peel off adhesive backing from a top portion of the graphic (see video). Using a felt squeegee (to avoid scratching the surface of the graphic) press firmly and product a back and forth (left to right) movement, beginning at the top slowly working your way to the bottom.
5. For Wet Application Only – Once complete, make sure all liquid is removed from the area (and behind the graphic). Wipe down the surrounding area with a cloth.
6. For graphics touching the edge of the window seal, trim the excess away.
The United States Postal Service enlisted Lowen Color Graphics to provide fleet graphics as part of a multi-channel marketing campaign promoting Priority Mail and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”. Lowen is producing and installing vehicle wraps on USPS trucks in major urban centers. Each driver side vehicle graphic features a dynamic image of Spider-Man with corresponding vehicle markings.
“Lowen Color Graphics proudly serves the USPS fleet. We were excited when USPS approached us with this significant task.” said Roger Borth, General Manager. “Our high efficiency/large capacity manufacturing unit is working seamlessly in conjunction with our national installation network to execute this sizable project in record time. We are always eager to undertake very large projects with expedited lead times.”
The high-profile marketing campaign in partnership with Sony Pictures began the week of March 17 and continues through the end of May. The fleet graphics are produced on a specialized 3M material that will allow easy removal returning each vehicle to their original appearance after the campaign concludes.
